Royals...

I write this and the catchy, yet quiet tunes of "Royals" by Lorde are incessantly playing in my head, ignited by an interesting question I was asked in response to my saying that many of us are "royal" in our own way.

It's true. Each and every one of us really enjoys his or her own successes, either personal, social, or career-related. With each one, this ego of ours just grows a bit. We think we're "all that". We *hope* that others (not just our own moms) see us as such. We love it when we tell a joke and people laugh, when people comment about our car/watch if it's a man or our purse/hair if it's a woman, when people that *count* gives us attention.

Some of us go a step further, and "deceive" ourselves into thinking we're truly crème de la crème. Often without actual merit. Some do it with weed, some do it with alcohol, and some just get high on their own self-imagined magnificence.

But then there's this special group. The guys and gals that just *know it* in their guts. They were born to lead, to discover new things, to learn how things work, to learn their own selves. They know it's not delusion, they know what they are capable of, they know where many a road leads, they even know each other when they meet, and... they know they know! :)
